Located in the heart of Las Vegas, John Mull's Meats & Road Kill Grill is a true haven for barbecue lovers and meat enthusiasts alike. This unique establishment seamlessly blends the charm of a traditional butcher shop and gourmet grocery store with the mouthwatering allure of a soul food and barbecue restaurant. Whether you're stopping by to pick up premium cuts from their butcher shop deli or settling in for a hearty meal, John Mull’s offers an authentic taste of Texas-style BBQ with a local twist.
Step inside, and you’re immediately greeted by an atmosphere that’s both rustic and lively—a place where the passion for quality meats and serious barbecue runs deep. The aroma of smoked brisket and burnt ends fills the air, awakening your appetite well before your food arrives. Popular dishes such as the Vegas Burnt Ends and Meatloaf, Massive Beef Ribs, and the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Mac and Cheese are celebrated highlights, each bursting with rich, smoky flavors and hearty, comforting textures that invite diners to savor every bite.
The Brisket Dinner stands out as a signature offering, delivering tender, smoky slices with an impressively balanced blend of spice and smoke. Complementing your meal, the sides are just as enticing—creamy mac and cheese, savory baked beans with a chili-like kick, and traditional southern-style collard greens create a well-rounded feast. The Apple Cobbler, although polarizing among visitors, remains a nod to the classic soul food dessert staples.
Customers frequently praise the quality and authenticity of the food. Oliver Gallaher shared how the pulled pork was "juicy, smoky, not overly sauced, just perfect," highlighting the Mild BBQ Sauce as a standout. Another regular, iTea Green, called their mac and cheese "honestly the best," emphasizing how the brisket is “to die for.” Ruby Perez lauded the ribs and tri-tip for their tenderness and flavor, while also complimenting the cheerful and welcoming staff who make every visit feel like a celebration.
That said, some reviews point to occasional inconsistency and service quirks. The Chef Garza noted that the food quality can be “hit or miss,” and while the friendly vibe is appreciated, Seal mentioned that the ordering system and service could feel intimidating to newcomers. It’s clear that while John Mull’s Road Kill Grill aims to impress with large portions and authentic taste—like indulging in burnt ends paired with traditional soul food sides—it is also a place where the community atmosphere and genuine passion for barbecue shine through.
For those craving robust Texas BBQ in Las Vegas served in a dynamic setting that combines a butcher shop, farmers' market, and soul food restaurant, John Mull's Meats & Road Kill Grill offers a powerful, savory experience that’s worth exploring again and again.
I come to Las Vegas all the time and somehow I just now made it to John Mull’s Road Kill. I feel like I’ve been missing out for years. This place is the real deal. The pulled pork was excellent. Juicy, smoky, not overly sauced, just perfect. The Mild BBQ Sauce was killer! But the sides are what absolutely shocked me. The baked beans tasted like a killer chili. The Mash Potatoes with Gravy were spot on. The Peach Cobbler might be the best I have ever had anywhere. The Mac Salad was unreal and the Mac & Cheese was some of the best I’ve ever tasted. Every side was a full ten out of ten. This place feels like you discovered a secret spot the locals try to keep quiet. It’s not some touristy Strip restaurant. It’s real barbecue, served by people who know what they are doing. If you’re a regular in Vegas like I am, trust me, make the trip. I will be back every single time I’m in town.
I’ve always liked supporting Jon Mulls Road Kill Grill because it’s a local spot with a unique vibe. Lately though, I feel like the quality has gone down a bit—it can be hit or miss depending on the day. Some visits are great, other times the food just doesn’t taste as it used to. Still, I appreciate that it’s a local place and hope they can get back to the consistency that made it my favorite. Il definitely be back Thank you ! 3 meat combo : Rib tips Brisket Hot link cut Baked beans Mac & cheese Cornbread didn’t get any with my order ? Mild bbq sauce Side of collard green made with Turkey
This place hits the spot when you’re craving good Texas BBQ. Their mac and cheese is honestly the best, and the brisket is to die for. I definitely want to come back and try their tri-tip on the day they serve it.
Food it divine, huge portions. The burnt ends are my favorite followed by the brisket and collard greens. The corn bread has gotten flatter. (Still good, just less of it) Service is intimidating and rude at times especially if you are new to the ordering system. I also got the cherry cobbler. (Wish I hadn't) It tasted like can filling and the dough was burned at the bottom middle dough was raw. Prices are a lil bit high but so is everything else. The live band and community seating is a good.
We decided to stop by after seeing a social media post abt this place. It is SO GOOD. Omg. we ordered the ribs and beef tri tip… the meat was so soft and super tasty. We had baked beans and macaroni salad as sides- the beans were my favorite. Their corn bread was so tasty it felt like I was having a dessert. Staff was super cheerful and kind. As we walked in, they started cheering it felt very welcoming. Only thing- no inside seating, which sucked due to Las Vegas weather always being hot. But this is def a great place to stop by and eat. Gave me bbq festival vibes. Def worth the sweat
The customer service was great with such yummy food!!! A staff lady name Mia asked; if we are military and my husband is a Marine! Thank you very much for honoring our military men and women who selflessly served...!
